India vs. Pakistan, one of the most anticipated matches of
the ICC World Cup 2023, may move from October 15 to October 14. It is unlikely
that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will change for this high-profile
match. The location will remain the same, according to representatives from
both the ICC and the BCCI. However, it is not unusual for the PCB to request
that the locations of ICC events in India be changed. They had to relocate
their league match against India from Dharamshala to Kolkata prior to the 2016
T20 World Cup due to security concerns.
The highest council of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led
by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, gave the go-ahead for the postponement of India
vs. Pakistan game in the ICC World Cup 2023 (AP). The PCB won't be concerned
about sending their side to India for the ICC competition beginning on October
5 once this is made official. However, they can want to have all the Indian
venues where they have shows scheduled review. According to claims in Pakistani
media, a specialized security force will be established for this reason.
The date of Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka, which was initially set for October 12 in Hyderabad, would change if the India vs. Pakistan match is postponed, according to ICC officials. In order to give enough time between the two matches, it can be changed to October 10. If this logic is followed, the Pakistan vs. Netherlands game that was originally planned for October 6 in Hyderabad might possibly be moved up a day or two.
The start of the Navratri festival is the primary
justification for the likely rescheduling of India vs. Pakistan match in the
ICC World Cup 2023. The match's initial date of October 15 would present
security risks.
For the rearrangement of their group matches, including the game against India in Ahmedabad, the ICC, and BCCI have both contacted the PCB.
It's important to note that there have been other changes to Pakistan's One Day World Cup group matches in addition to the updated ICC tournament. Recently, PCB Secretary Jay Shah stated that certain other member boards have asked for adjustments to their own schedules. This suggests that the One-Day World Cup may also have some games rescheduled.
The competition will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad with a
match between England and New Zealand, the winners of the last edition.
Australia will be the opponent for host India's opening match on October 8 at
Chennai's Chidambaram Stadium.
On November 15 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium and on November 16 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, respectively, will be held the two semi-final matches. No changes are anticipated to the dates of these three elimination games; the final will be held on November 19 in Ahmedabad. The semi-final game for India, assuming they make it there, will take place in Mumbai, unless they play Pakistan, in which case it will be in Kolkata.
In the meantime, World Cup group-stage ticket sales are
anticipated to start in the second week of this month.
